Effective April 2, 2019, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has replaced part of the Motor Vehicle Act Regulations with regulations tailored for the Motion Picture Industry (MPI). This will require logging of “On Duty,” “Off Duty” and “Driving Time” by the driver of commercial vehicles of a gross vehicle weight of more than 11,794 kg and passenger vehicles with a seating capacity of 10 or more passengers plus the driver.

This 2-year pilot project has been designed specifically for the B.C. Motion Picture Industry. It takes into consideration the uniqueness of our industry while still insuring the safety of the worker and the public on the roads we share.

Teamsters Local Union No. 155 is committed to insuring the well-being of our members both financially through this process as well as addressing the liability of our members.

For this reason, I recommend that all drivers of regulated equipment comply with these new regulations. Teamsters Local Union No. 155 will endeavor to educate and support the membership through this learning process.
